Here's To Forgotten Mother's Days

He took her hand, he said her name
She looked into his eyes
For all the things there were to say
Her words were paralyzed

She'll never know it's Mother's Day
Well . . . maybe for a while
But she'll forget what he's just said
Distracted by the bright floor tile

And so it goes
Another step down the spiral
Heaven knows
There is no hope for survival
And so it goes ...

Syllables trying to connect
They bridled at the gate
But stumbled as they touched his ears
Out of wind and hard to make

Disconnected ... frag-mented thoughts
That tumbled in her head
Each fade into a whisper
At the moment they are said

No steps forward and three steps back
With such a heavy load
Sometimes she falters
Sometimes she breaks
On such a rutted road

Pursued by an assailant
Relentless to the end
Determined to take everything
'Til she is where she once began

And so it goes
Slipping further down the spiral

In the times
When I think all hope is lost
I'm reminded of Heaven's room for her
That was paid for with a cross
And so it goes

She'll never know it's Mother's Day
Well . . . maybe for a while
But she'll forget that she's been told
Before her next big smile
And so it goes . . .

Mom,

Happy Mother's Day.

Monkeyshines, Turd Drops and Deaththroes

Despite the fact that President Obama has repeatedly congratulated himself (in one speech alone) on being the mastermind behind Osama Bin Ladin's death, which is no small feat - and he should be congratulated for being the president on watch who allowed the military to complete their mission, the fact remains that our economy continues to be in the tank with no real signs of serious recovery; Fed Chairman Bernanke has flooded the world market with U.S. dollars, making every dollar out there worth less, our President refuses to increase the world oil supply by keeping a stranglehold on domestic production, fuel prices are through the roof, inflation is taking hold and unemployment remains high after two years of him being in office, when he said if we followed his prescription we would be well into our second year of recovery and prosperity.

Aside from that being a very long and poorly punctuated run-on sentence, the death of Osama Bin Laden, however wonderful, does not suddenly turn everything about this president into gold or the landscape of this country into all sunshine, lollipops and rainbows.  After all the celebrating and revelry has cooled, everyone can get back to reality and look at the crap we are still standing knee-deep in.  Crap created by a president who tends to turn everything he puts his hand to into crap.  So far the military hasn't succumbed to his crap touch, which is not for a lack of trying on President Obama's part.   Let's pray the military can endure and that they don't succumb to the crap touch.

But, that's just my opinion.
