Because I was . . .

It's been just a little over two years since I wrote this. Sometimes inspiration comes in the most mysterious of ways.  This particular piece only took maybe 30 to 45 minutes or so to scribble down - it's almost like it wrote itself, in many ways.

So, In keeping with the Lenten Season and the approaching Resurrection Sunday, I am once again sharing this, from the perspective of the Messiah (Not Obama), that reflects the solemnity of this annual observation and the hope (real hope, not the phony baloney type), it provides to all:

Because I was, because I am

Uniquely equipped to understand

If your life feels like it has no plan

I am waiting here to take your hand

Because I was, because I am

I know the pain of the fallen man

So very near to where you are

But it's your call

You decide how far

Because I was, because I am

Outside your door

I knock, I stand

Want you to know I'm your biggest fan

Because I am, I understand

I knew the lost should all be found

So on my head

A thorny crown

To take your pain,
To take your loss,
To take your sin,
I took the cross

Too much to take,
Too much to bear?
Thought you should know,
I took your share

This was all part of my grand plan

Because I was, because I am
